CHIMBUYA Nursery School
CHILDREN IN NEED
THE FACE OF POVERTY
2013
Sometimes people are just too poor to stay alive. This was the case with the Chimbuya Nursery School. Located in one of the most poverty stricken areas of Tanzania, the population of children in the area were diseased and starving.

Our field partners set up a classroom and began bringing the children, ages two to eight, to school. None of them had been to school before.

After the first time the OA team visited the nursery, we were saddened to learn that one of the children had died the following day.
After our visit, we provided enough funds for medical insurance for all the children, implemented a food program, and drilled a deep-water well.

Progress
2024
Now the children learn their ABC's and 123's in preparation for entering primary school at age six. While there's more to be done to help these kids, we're making progress.
the Need:
A New school structure
2024
Currently our little Chimbuya children meet in a one-room building. Together with our field partners, we would like to hire another teacher, buy land, and build a two-room structure with office, playground, toilet facilities, and a fence.
While things aren't perfect yet, it's a process. The best news is that our children are healthier, happier, and no one is dying anymore!
